Information for authors

The journal publishes new results of theoretical and experimental studies in the field of the kinematics, dynamics, motion control, and dynamic stability of elastoviscous systems and systems with liquid masses, fluid dynamics, heat and mass exchange, structural strength and reliability, spacecraft mechanics, and mechanical aspects of space research.

Submission language: English, Russian, or Ukrainian. If a paper is written in English, the authors must add its Russian or Ukrainian version where they certify the identity of the two versions.

The paper text must possess all the elements in accordance with the requirements of the Department for Higher Qualification Personnel Attestation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The maximum total paper length with figures, tables, etc. is 15 A4 pages typed in the format of Technical Mechanics.

Paper Structure. UDС index, the authors’ initials and last names (capitalized), paper title (capitalized), the authors’ affiliations and institution addresses, e-mail address of the corresponding author or all authors,  abstract in Russian, Ukrainian, and English, keywords ( no less than 3 and no more than 8), introduction, main text (division into sections and subsections is not mandatory), conclusions, references, and appendices. The title should be concise and reflect the content of the paper.

An abstract of no less than 1,900 characters should include the aim of the work, the methods used, the results obtained, the scientific novelty of the work, and its practical significance.

The introduction and references should reflect the state of the art in the field.

 General. A CD and a hard copy of the paper must be submitted.  CDs will not be returned.  

The manuscript must be submitted in Word  (*.doc).  Use A4 paper. Margins: top margin 1.5 cm, bottom margin 5.5 cm, outer margin 6.0 cm, and inner margin 2.0 cm.

  • Styles used:
  • UDC – Times New Roman 9 pt, left justified.  unindented, upper case; 
  • Author’s Name – Times New Roman 8 pt, centered, upper case;
  • Paper Title – Times New Roman 10 pt, centered, upper case;
  • Main Text – Times New Roman 11 pt, first line indent 7 cm, left and right justified;
  • Abstract – Times New Roman 8 pt, first line indent 0.7 cm, left and right justified;
  • Equations – 6 pt before and 6 pt after; equation editor: standard for Microsoft Office.
  • References – Times New Roman 8 pt, hanging indent 0.3 cm, left and right justified, the authors’ names in italics; all references should be cited in the text.

 

Spacing for equations: 150%, 150%, 100%, 45%, 25%, 25%, 100%, 100%, 35%, 100%, 1 pt, 0.5 pt, 0.25 pt, 1 pt, 100%, 8%, 2pt, 1.5 pt, 45%.

Latin and Greek characters are typed using an equation editor. Number only equations referred to in the text. All symbols in equations should be explained.

Figures should be in the * .tif, * .bmp, *.pcx,  or *.jpg format . Font:  Schoolbook 10 pt Regular, for units – 10 pt Regular; in papers in Russian or Ukrainian, use a comma to separate the decimal part: 10.4;12.5, etc. If a figure has several parts, denote these parts by “a)”, “b)”, “c)”, etc. placed under them and centered. Place the units in line with the numbers on the coordinate axes. Greek symbols:  Symbol 10 pt. Resolution 300 dpi.  Maximum horizontal size 110 mm. Lettering that encumbers figures should be replaced with numbers or symbols explained in the text.

References should be listed at the end of the manuscript in alphabetical order or in the order in which they appear in the text. Indicate references in the text by numbers in square brackets. The list of references should have two blocks (for papers in English too):

1) list of references in their original language prepared in accordance with Ukrainian Standard DSTU 8302:2015;

2) list of references in Roman transliteration (as recommended by the international bibliographic standard). The titles of journals in Russian and Ukrainian should be transliterated depending on their original language  (for Ukrainian according to Resolution No. 55 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of January 27, 2010 “On the Normalization of Roman Transliteration of the Ukrainian Alphabet”), and their title in English (if any) should be indicated in parentheses.

References to reports or unpublished or incomplete works are not permitted.

 At the end of the manuscript (after the list of references), the date of receipt of the manuscript by the Editorial Board should be indicated on the right (“Received…”).

 

Manuscripts that do not comply with these rules will not be considered.

 

The CD should have a separate file with the authors’ initials and last names, the full address, the paper title and the keywords in Russian, Ukrainian, and English, and the authors’ e-mail addresses and telephone numbers.

The manuscript should be accompanied by a covering letter written on a headed paper of the institution (an example is attached) and a permission for publication. The hard copy of the manuscript (after the list of references) should be signed by the authors.   

If the paper is not submitted from an institution, the authors must enter into a license copyright agreement with the publisher.

Each paper is reviewed by several experts in the field, after which it is accepted or rejected at the Editorial Board’s meeting. The reason for rejection may be unfavorable reviews, nonconformity to the scope of the journal, lack of novelty, etc. The paper is sent to the author for revision if requested by reviewers.

There is no publication charge in the journal. 

The journal does not provide the author with hardcopy offprints.

The author(s) transfers to the founder of the journal for an unrestricted period of time the nonexclusive rights for the use of the paper by its publication, reproduction, use as a whole or as fragments in combination with any text, photos or figures, including the placement of its full-text Internet versions on the Internet sites of the journal, the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, and scientometric databases.

The author(s) is liable for the illegal exploitation of intellectual property, copyright, or know-how objects in the paper to the full extent in accordance with the current legislation.

We also confirm that the paper author (s) consents to the manuscript preparation rules of Technical Mechanics,” namely:

  • the copyright for a paper belongs to the author(s) of the paper;
  • the copyright for an issue of the journal (as a whole) belongs to the founder of the journal;
  • the journal has the right to send materials of papers to Ukrainian and foreign citation databases;
  • the manuscripts of rejected papers are not returned to the authors;
  • the journal has the right for editorial revisions of manuscripts;
  • the paper does not contain any confidential information from third parties or state or any other legally protected secrets;
  • no fee is paid to the authors.

 

To negotiate the realization of the property rights, the authors select an authorized representative, who has the right to sign.
