Archiving and Long-Term Access
The Editorial Board of the scientific journal follows the Open Access policy. All articles are made permanently and freely available immediately upon publication of each issue, in line with the definition of open access established by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). The journal’s licensing policy is consistent with most open access and archiving practices. It ensures long-term digital preservation and unrestricted access to all published materials, upholding the principles of open access and academic integrity through the following tools:
Repositories
- Full-text access to all journal publications is provided in real time via the Archives section of the official journal website.
- The archive includes all issues and individual articles without any time limits on storage.
- Metadata and full-text articles are also stored in the Institutional Repository.
- To safeguard against data loss, the journal’s electronic archive is submitted for preservation to the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine).
Technical Means
- All journal materials are archived in stable electronic formats that guarantee future accessibility, reproducibility, and accurate citation.
- Metadata and full-text publications are prepared for indexing in both national and international information and scientometric systems.
- The journal performs regular backups of its issues and continuously monitors technological developments to prevent problems related to format conversion or outdated
Digital Preservation Policy and Guarantees of Accessibility
The journal’s website platform, Open Journal Systems (OJS), supports the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). Developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), this service is designed for the digital preservation of scientific journal archives hosted on OJS.
PKP PN and LOCKSS Integration
- The PKP PN network is integrated with LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), a well-established preservation service that ensures decentralized and distributed storage.
- This assures uninterrupted access and the safeguarding of authentic original content.
- PKP PN is of special importance to journals that are not part of other archiving services, such as CLOCKSS or Portico.
LOCKSS
- LOCKSS is an open-source software tool created at Stanford University Libraries.
- It enables libraries to preserve individual web journals by regularly monitoring their websites for newly published content and archiving it.
- Each archive is continuously validated against others, and if content is found to be corrupted or lost, it is restored using copies from other archives.
Guarantees of Accessibility
The journal uses sustainable file formats (PDF) to ensure long-term readability of scientific content.
- Each document is assigned a DOI, guaranteeing its findability and permanent location.
- The journal complies with OpenAIRE standards to facilitate indexing and interoperability.
- All journal materials stored in specialized databases (including the journal’s website and the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine) are freely accessible to readers.
This comprehensive policy ensures reliable preservation, accessibility, and compliance with international standards of open science.
