Retracting Published Articles
General Provisions
1.1. This document establishes the procedure for retracting articles published in the “Technical mechanics” journal.
1.2. The purpose of retraction is to correct published information and uphold the integrity of scientific publications.
1.3. Retraction may be initiated by authors, the editorial board, readers, or authorized representatives.
Grounds for Retraction
2.1. Proven plagiarism or unauthorized use of materials.
2.2. Significant errors in the study that invalidate its results.
2.3. Duplicate publication of the same material without proper citation.
2.4. Falsification or manipulation of data.
2.5. Failure to disclose conflicts of interest that affect the interpretation of results.
2.6. Serious violations of ethical standards during the research process.
2.7. Unauthorized use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies (without proper citation or justification) in writing articles or generating graphs, tables, or other visual materials.
Retraction Procedure
3.1. The initiator submits a written statement explaining the reasons for retraction.
3.2. Supporting evidence must be attached to the statement.
3.3. The editor-in-chief reviews the statement within 5 business days.
Consideration of the Case
4.1. The editor-in-chief appoints a commission of three independent experts.
4.2. The commission conducts a comprehensive analysis of the article and evidence.
4.3. Authors are given the opportunity to provide explanations.
4.4. The review period shall not exceed 30 calendar days.
Decision-Making
5.1. The commission may decide to:
- Reject the retraction request;
- Recommend that the authors publish a correction;
- Recommend full withdrawal of the article.
5.2. Decisions are made by majority vote of the commission members.
Retraction Registration
6.1. If retraction is approved:
- The article is marked as “Retracted” in all versions of the journal;
- A retraction notice is published, stating the reasons;
- The notice includes a link to the original article.
6.2. The retraction notice must include:
- Title “Retraction Notice”;
- Bibliographic details of the original article;
- Detailed justification for retraction;
- Date of effect.
Consequences of Retraction
7.1. The retracted article remains in the journal archive with a clear label.
7.2. Notifications are sent to:
- The authors;
- Indexing databases;
- The scientific community.
7.3. Information about the retraction is published in the next issue of the journal.
Authors’ Rights
8.1. Authors have the right to:
- Receive a detailed explanation of the retraction decision;
- Appeal the commission’s decision;
- Publish a comment regarding the retraction.
8.2. Appeals are reviewed by the editor-in-chief within 14 days.
